About Gillingham Street Angels
Gillingham Street Angels are local people bringing communities & people together to address homelessness, financial hardship
& food poverty, no matter the reason.
Originally founded in 2018 Gillingham Street Angels are a small grassroots charity that supports local people experiencing homelessness, financial hardship and food poverty across Medway!
Gillingham Street Angels Vision
Our vision, whilst challenging, is simple; we support anyone living in Medway whose lives have been impacted by Homelessness, Financial Hardship and Food Poverty.
We work with local communities and volunteers to deliver a holistic approach to the wellness support and services we offer. We simultaneously address the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of the people we supports health with the view to enabling them to live better quality and longer lives. Gillingham Street Angels Mission
We understand that navigating the healthcare system can sometimes be overwhelming and we are proud to offer a holistic approach when delivering our wellbeing support and wherever possible we aim to provide as much of these as a one-stop-shop for a range of needs.
- Our mission is to deliver this support to those in our communities that are vulnerable, isolated, lonely and in need through:
- Raising awareness on important local concerns,
- Reducing health inequalities through enabling people to make healthier lifestyle choices,
- Programme of health & wellbeing support delivered via our primarily volunteer-led range of support and services.
- Providing a programme of social activities that people can feel hopeful about and look forward to.
- We aim to make accessing community activities and health and wellbeing services and appointments as ‘stress-free’ as possible for the people we help.
- Offering meaningful opportunities to connect with others and volunteer opportunities to help those who are vulnerable, isolated and in need.
Donating to Gillingham Street Angels
Our support is a lifeline for thousands of people in our community and surrounding areas, their families and pets. In these unprecedented times the Gillingham Street Angels are working hard to support the most vulnerable in our society, from our homeless, our young through to our older generation including pets, those who suffer from social isolation, or those who are simply overwhelmed by the challenges associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. We can only continue to provide these services with your help. Whether it’s a one-off donation or a regular gift, no donation is too small to make a difference, so please donate today.
Help us be there for more animals
We do everything we can to alleviate animal suffering or end up in rescue centres because families find that they can no longer afford to keep their beloved pet due to food costs or health care, we cannot support this alone. It’s the generosity of supporters like you who make it possible. You need to know that we strongly appreciate your support to, protect and care for animals in need.
How your donations help
We provide support with food (for pets as well) and household goods for members of the Medway community, and surrounding areas. By making a donation, you’re helping us to help those in need within our community and further afield. We hope to reduce waste as much as possible and see everything distributed and re-used, to help people who may not have essential items like beds, storage for clothes, or a table to eat dinner from. There are a few decorative bits too, to cheer up your space as mental health means such a lot to us.

Volunteering with Gillingham Street Angels
Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do
Warehouse & Sorting Volunteers
Are you feeling strong, like to be active, we are looking for volunteers to also join our team at our storage unit, not only to sort through donations dropped in or collected but to keep items organised in the warehouse.
Cafe Volunteers
We are currently looking for volunteers to cook, serve and help with general kitchen duties, experience not essential but would be an advantage in working in a fast paced environment as we can get quite busy, we are mainly looking for people to cover a few hours on Saturday and Sunday at present, however other shifts on weekdays do become available.
Foodbank Distribution Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers at our Gillingham Hub to help with our food parcel distribution. Experience not essential but would be preferred.
All of our roles are fast paced and do require commitment, they are not easy roles but they are very rewarding ones.
